This topic is a companion topic to restoring the rights of felons after they have served their time in jail. TN law was slightly changed in 2012 to create a partial path to redemption and provided a mechanism for  expungement of certain convictions.  The law has been expanded several times including 2021. Expungement allows a person to seek employment without a criminal record, vote, and otherwise become a meaningful member of society by getting a second chance.
