On May 8, 2026, the Tennessee legislature passed a new mid-decade congressional district map at the request of Governor Bill Lee. The newly redrawn maps will be in effect for the August 6 primary.

LWV is appalled to witness the Tennessee legislature deconstruct representative democracy in our state. Redistricting with the intent of silencing the voices of the Black and Brown voters of Memphis/Shelby County is an affront to the very founding tenets of America.
