The Tennessee legislature will be considering whether Tennessee should convert to a “closed primary” system this year. What does that mean for partisan voters? For independent voters?
Jeremy Gruber, Senior Vice-President for Open Primaries will discuss the impact of closed primaries from the voters’ perspective. The premise of this non-partisan organization is that “no American should be required to join a political party to exercise their right to vote.”
Currently Tennessee, along with 19 other states, has primaries that do not require pre-registration with a political party. Come learn more about closed and open primaries and how a change could impact Tennessee voters in the future. This event is open to the public. Click here to register.
