To commemorate the September 17, 1787 signing of the United States Constitution, Congress designated September 17th of each year as Constitution Day.
On Constitution Day we honor our democracy by celebrating our rights and responsibilities as citizens. We encourage students and families to read the Constitution together this week and discuss the noble principles upon which our nation’s laws are based. We believe that by becoming more knowledgeable about our country's laws, we can respectfully debate and participate in advancing freedom, prosperity, and peace. Constitution Day is also the perfect time to celebrate the right to vote, the very cornerstone of citizenship!
Our League will be at these local libraries, handing out FREE pocket Constitutions and information about the League. Please come by, and spread the word to friends and neighbors.
