LWV Northeast TN presents "Competitive Elections and Democracy in America"

The foundation of any vibrant democracy is a system of fair and free elections.  But what happens when those contests become fiercely competitive... or uncompetitive?  Are competitive elections "good" for democracy? In this conversation, we will examine evidence regarding both the positive and negative side effects of competitive elections. If on balance we determine they are "good," what can we do to increase the number of competitive elections in our communities? Join us for an exciting discussion with Heather Evans, Professor of Political Science at UVA-Wise.
