Plan to join LWV Oak Ridge as they discuss Nikole Hannah-Jones' recently released "The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story".

"The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story" is an expanded version of the version printed in 2020 in the New York Times Magazine. The new version includes the original essays plus newer essays by some truly outstanding writers, including Michelle Alexander, Robert Jones, Bryan Stevenson, and Ibram X. Kendi. 

Previous LWVOR President Harriett McCurdy, who is well-seasoned in leading book discussions, will chair the discussion. She asks that as you read, you answer the following questions and bring your answers with you to our discussion:

1: Three historical facts that surprised you.

2: Three quotes  that stand out to you.
3: Three questions you have about the content of The 1619 Project.
